OK, that was one workout because of the way the two disciplines were intertwined. But I got two things done. A little before 6:00 I went to the pool Some kids were in the big pool with some large air mattress or something. I really don't know what it was, but it was almost as wide as the pool. I am not a nice man when I swim so I decided not to risk it and went to the little pool instead. I swam
1,800 35:09 1:57
3 X 300 @ 5:28
1 X 200 @ 3:44
1 X 150 @ 2:45
300 medium paddles
total: 3,350 yards = 3,061 meters
That was a strong practice. For some reason, I have always liked 3 X 300. It hurts good. Sometime in the past, I had programmed an additional 200 and 150 into my watch. In my Garmin Connect, I was able to get all my splits. Bear in mind that the 3 X 300, the 1 X 200, and the 1 X 150 are all one set. The splits are as follows:
300 - 1 - 5:04 - 1:41
300 - 2 - 4:59 - 1:40
300 - 3 - 5:06 - 1:42
200 - 3:14 1:37
150 - 2:31 1:41
See it? The 300s are all pretty close to the same per 100 yard pace. The 200, as it should, drops the pace a little bit from approximately 1:40 to 1:37. The 150, however, which should drop the pace some more, slows to 300 pace, back to 1:41. That is instructive. That shows me where my fitness ends. Hence, I need to do this set again, and the goal will be to drop the pace on the 150 as my stamina rises.
Notice I did not use the word "endurance." I used the correct term "stamina." Endurance and stamina are not symonyms although ten out of nine people don't know they aren't. If you are one of the ten out of nine who don't know the difference, slap yourself across the face and yell, "Stop that!"
Praise God, and please, Lord, make them stop that.
