Labor Day

I love Labor Day. What's not to like? It gives me a four-day weekend which suits my style. The first thing I did was nothing. I slept until 7:00 o'clock and called my training buddy at 7:30. We He had already made plans for us to meet at the pool at 8:30. He wanted to go then, at 7:30. I said no. He kept pressing me. I held my ground. Someone always wants to mess up your day off. Not this time. At the pool, I swam

1,700 37:10
6 X 50 @ 1:21
100 medium paddles
2 X 50 @ 1:21
100 medium paddles
total: 2,300 long course meters

For the first time, I noticed that I have lost a bit on the swim. I have been doing fewer meters per practice, fewer days per week, and less intensity per session. It is finally showing up. During the 1,700, I noticed a touch of fatigue. During the 50s, I noticed a bit more tiredness. Uhgg! You reap what you sow, and I have sown sparingly for several months now, and I am reaping the harvest.

That's not a bad way to start the day. Then I went home and ate breakfast and took a nap. Later in the morning, I went out for a shuffle and did 3.3 miles with a .35 pickup thrown in at 9:17 per mile pace. That ain't much, but it is something.

I did not go back outside until late afternoon. It was bench day at Plate City. I pressed

13 X 100
4 X 125
4 X 145
3 X 150
2 X 155
1 X 160
1 X 165
2 X 155

Remember, last week I failed at 161. This time, having benched twice last week, I made 165. I also did a bunch of other stuff and retired to the house to lounge for the rest of the holiday. Thank you, Jesus, for another day to play.
