Friday

I slept in. Thank God Almighty for Fridays. I went in at 10:15 for Virtual Meet 3. Randy had already texted me his times. They were pretty good. The meet was for 3 X 500, lowest total time wins. I swam

1,150 21:39 (1:52)
500 for time 7:30.71
250 easy
500 for time 7:30.68
250 easy
500 for time 7:28.05
600 small paddles
250 medium paddles
total: 4,000 yards = 3,656 meters

That's 1,500 yards of all-out swimming. After each 500 I was sucking air really hard. I lapped my Garmin and went straight into the 250s. This session in the pool should boost my V02Max a bit. When I swim this stuff, I am thinking of more than Randy Beets; I'm thinking of the Senior Olympics next spring. This is the kind of practice that should help me a lot. I thought of standing on the starting blocks in Biloxi thinking, "It's just one 500."

I did not run today because I am resting for Vardaman Saturday. I hope to run 29:30 or faster. My last 5K, four weeks ago, was 29:55. It was hot that day, and I have run about 100 miles since then and squatted a bunch of weights. So I should be able to do that, maybe faster. There is one steep hill, and it is supposed to be very cold. I will have lots of clothes on.

I did lift. It was pull day, and I did reverse flys with some tubing. I did one set of bent rows. I also did some seated rows, some pull-ups, and two sets at the Swim Pull. I finished the workout with some rowing on the row machine. It was a good swim, and good session at Plate City, a good day. Thank you, Jesus.
