I Did It!!!!

I did it. I swam a full 25 yards of butterfly. Take that Randy Beets! Not only that, but I swam my first real IM. I have been swimming something I call a Redneck IM. The Redneck IM is free/back/breast/free. A real IM is butterfly/back/breast/free. Monday I swam a real IM. It was real ugly, real slow, and real hard, but I did it. My practice went like this. I swam

2,050 40:32

200 Special as

  200 @ 3:30 (3:19)

  150 @ 2:45 (2:28)

   5 X 100 @ 1:55

25 butterfly

25

50 back 1:09

100 IM 2:10 !!!!! my first!!!!

200 medium paddles

total: 3,400 yards = 3,107 meters.

The butterfly is far from good, but I will keep working on it. It sends my heartrate soaring, and leaves me gasping for air. Breast stroke also does that to me, but butterfly is worse. One of my long-term goals is to swim the 100 IM at the Mississippi State Senior Olympics. This year (if it is held) I plan to swim the 100 back stroke. I was signed up for that last year but unfortunately, the games were cancelled due to COVID. Next year, I want to add a breast stroke race. Then in 2023, I hope to graduate to the IM. By then I should be much better.

After swimming, I went home and went out for a shuffle. I ran 4.5 miles in a light drizzle of rain. Then I went to Plate City for bench night. I pressed

15 X 100

  8 X 120

  5 X 145

  5 X 145

  5 X 145

  4 X 145

  3 X 120 WG

After that, I did a bunch of triceps work. I experimented on some stuff and did the triceps machine. All in all, it was a good day, good at work and good for training. Thank you, Jesus.
