Hodge in the Cross Hairs

Hodge in the Cross Hairs
By Jay Unver

(Lehrton, Mississippi) Zane Hodge continues to be in the cross hairs of attention in Big ASS Endurance. Last week, he set new records in the Association of Sports Strongmen. He upped his military press record from 70 X 4 to 75 X 4. And on the Husafell stone, he twice extended his own record within one week. Wednesday he broke his previous best by going 112 pounds for twelve feet. Saturday he once more set the mark by going fifteen feet with the stone loaded to 115 pounds.

Despite his accomplishments, Hodge was defeated by Beets in Virtual Swim Meet 2, and remains under investigation for his possible role in a power outage at Morganton Aquatic Center Friday the 18th interrupting Virtual Swim Meet 2 before rival Randy Beets could complete is 600 yard swim. Beets later redid his part in the meet, solidly downing Hodge.

Beets insists Hodge was in collusion with local forces to foil his attempt at victory. Thus far, the investigation has tied Hodge's cell phone use to a local number in the Morganton area. When asked why he would be calling someone in that area, Hodge at first denied the charge, then obviously flustered, said if he called someone in North Carolina, it was obviously "a butt dial."

The City of Morganton Electric Company at this point says the power outage was caused by a cyber attack. The source of that attack has not yet been determined. When asked about that, Hodge blushed and walked away.

If guilty, Hodge could face a number of disciplinary actions from the Association such as fines, suspensions, even banishment.
