A Butt Load of Records

A Butt Load of Records
By Jay Unver

(Lehrton, Mississippi) Zane Hodge has done it again, and again, and again. Fifteen times again to be exact. Let that sink in: fifteen new world records in two sports for the near-retirement-age athlete.

First, Hodge broke his own log pressing record February 13th with sixteen straight reps. That is called a reps record as opposed to a weight record. Just last night, Hodge broke that again with seventeen reps of the "naked log" as they now call the log with no added weight. It should be noted that this is an eight inch log. There are as yet, no records for the ten-inch log which Plate City does not have in its inventory. When the gym acquires a ten-inch log, Hodge will begin to fill the record books up with that one too.

February 22nd saw Hodge reset the Duck Walk record going fifty feet with 115 pounds. Not only that, but that very day, Hodge set the weight record on the Farmer's Walk with forty feet at 117 pounds per hand. That is a total of 234 pounds of weight. Note that it was Hodge's grip that failed resulting in only a forty-foot pull. Concerning the Farmer's Walk, on February 28th, Hodge set the naked FW with a pull of 350 feet. Amazingly, he did this not once but twice. That same day he also set the dead lift world record at 175 pounds.

"I can go a lot higher on the dead lift," a jubilant Hodge stated. "But I am slowly building a base. One must take care of the back."

In the pool, Hodge's records are almost too many to catalog. Almost daily he is setting new marks in the backstroke. Since my last article, he has set new world marks in the 700, 750, 800, 850, 900, and 100 back. In the 100, he dropped his own world record from 2:14 to 1:44. That is an amazing :30 seconds!

In addition to the backstroke records, Hodge has set new marks in the 25 and 50 breast as well as the 100 RIM (Redneck Individual Medley).

Dr. Timothy Nomann, President and CEO of Big ASS Endurance exclaimed, "There has never been anything in athletic history like what Hodge is doing. Not even close. Likely we will never see such again. Pay attention. We are witnessing greatness."
